Last night, I was looking up fun runs and charity walks in Singapore to get involved in and I stumbled across the Watsons Pink Ribbon Walk 2011, which you can check out here. The event is to support and create awareness for the Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF). As my own mother is a survivor of breast cancer and millions of people are affected by the disease everyday, I thought it would be great to get involved in the 3.8km walk to show my support for the BCF. I posted my thoughts and the idea of getting a group together to participate in the event on Life in Singapore Facebook Page and was overwhelmed by the response of people wanting to get involved. Originally hoping to form the minimum requirement of 15 for a group, overnight I now have a list of 30 people wanting to join the group and not all of them are female :). So, I set up my own Facebook event page for the Pink Ribbon Walk group to keep track of the numbers. We still have to decide on a name for the group and have had a load of suggestions already. On my next post, I will create a voting poll so you can help us decide on the best name!
Here is a picture of the route for the walk
The details are as follows:
Date: 1st of October 2011
Time: 6pm
